The Division of Information Technology has implemented CAT to better protect students from viruses and threats on the internet. CAT will check your computer to ensure that your computer is up to date with:

• All of the released Microsoft Critical Patches, and
• An AntiVirus program with updated definition files.

You must pass CAT in order to register your computer on ResNet. Clicking on the link to the right of this page will initiate CAT. CAT will take time to load and run. Please be patient. Click Here for detailed information on CAT.

CAT Requirements

1. You must be an Administrator on the machine.
2. You must use Internet Explorer (IE) to register your machine.
3. You must have Automatically Detect Settings checked in IE to access Windows Update
   (Open IE --> click on Tools --> Internet Options --> click on Connections tab --> LAN Settings)
4. You must have Use Automatic Configuration Script checked in IE and set to:
   
   http://resnet.stonybrook.edu/wpad.dat
   to access SOLAR
   (Open IE --> click on Tools --> Internet Options --> c lick on Connections tab --> LAN Settings)
